Response of Masonry infilled RC frame Under Horizontal Seismic Force

The book aims at evaluating the potentially higher shear induced at columns of the neighborhood infilled frame in an attempt to create awareness among designers that masonry infill apart from its use as enclosure undergoes interactions with the structural framing. It quantitatively compares the peak shears in a column neighborhood of infilled frame and a corresponding column of a bare frame. Masonry infill has been modeled by equivalent struts coupled with modified Bouc-Wen model. Modification of Bouc-Wen model includes stiffness and strength degradation under seimic forces. Seimic force shall be characterized by descretized records or synthetic earthquake records as base motion. The analysis has been handled by a FORTRAN program ASSDMI.
Autorentext
The author has received his BSc in Civil Engineering in 1992 and MSc in Structural Engineering in 2005 from Addis Ababa University. He recieved double master in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions from Universty of Minho, Portugal and Czech Technical University in Prague in 2008. He is Bridge designer in GIBB Africa.
