RESPONSIBILITY AND UBUNTU: PROLEGOMENA TO GENERAL ETHICS

The originality of this book can be understood in two senses: first by the fact that I expose another conception, without precedent, of the responsibility and I denounce at the same time, like H. Jonas, the little interest shown by the moral philosophy to the aforementioned notion. Finally, I make responsibility the essential element of man's life for more humanity and general ethics in order to establish perpetual peace. My reflection is in the continuity-discontinuity of the previous thoughts. For me, the responsibility must be considered as a psychological disposition that obliges us the unconditional respect of the human in every man (woman) whatever his human condition. Thus, I establish a law named categorical imperative of responsibility: always act in such a way that the maxim of your action unconditionally respects the human in every man (woman) whatever his social status. In this book, therefore, I evoke the ethics of Ubuntu. I emphasize that by inserting the imperative of my new conception of responsibility into the ethics of Ubuntu, they (Responsibility and Ubuntu) would serve, no doubt, as prolegomena to the general ethics.
