Rethinking Sustainable Development

Twenty years after Our Common Future first introduced to the world its revolutionary strategy for sustainable development, a host of intransigent socio-environmental problems have emerged to challenge the efficacy of this paradigm. Through analysis of a proposed sustainable development project for indigenous Mapuche communities in the coastal Alerce forests of Southern Chile, this book discusses how to rethink and revitalize sustainable development as a vibrant and versatile guide to democratic socio-environmental policy formation.

Patrick Baur arbeitet derzeit an seiner Doktorarbeit in Umweltwissenschaft, -politik und -management an der Universität von Kalifornien, Berkeley, wo er über Agrar- und Ernährungssysteme forscht. Seinen B.A. in Umweltwissenschaften und öffentlicher Politik erhielt er 2007 an der Harvard University.
