Reuters-TAP Economic News Items: A Comparative Study

As a comparative study, the research deals with two different types of economic news items the first items are written by native experts and the second are translated by non-native, non specialized journalists. The research in hand should focus on weak points in translating economic news items by non-specialized personnel. Hence, we can deal with three major features: Size: Reuters, which has its own coverage of economic news, produces in general long, detailed and elaborate news items, while TAP provides short and concise business news. Interest: Reuters as a global news agency is a key provider of international financial market data, while TAP is rather domestically oriented to cover economic news. Linguistic skills: linguistically speaking, it is unfair to compare non-native and native journalists. The comparison here is about craftsmanship; Reuters economic news items are produced by specialized economists (experts) while those provided by TAP are translated by non experts in the business field.
