The President of México send to Rosaura (María Félix), a young teacher to alphabetize a remote rural village known as Río Escondido. But the goodwill of Rosaura is impaired by Don Regino Sandoval (Carlos Lopez Moctezuma), the sheriff of the town that he governs as a tyrant.
