Risk Profile of Renal Microvascular Complications in Type 2 DM

Diabetes Mellitus is a global health challenge, projected to affect 366 million people by 2030. Diabetic nephropathy, a major microvascular complication, not only leads to chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal failure but also increases cardiovascular risk, disability, and overall mortality, thereby severely impairing quality of life. Thus, an integrated approach combining optimal glycemic control, blood pressure regulation, renoprotective therapy, and lifestyle modification remains the cornerstone of preventing progression to end-stage renal disease in diabetic nephropathy.
