Road Waffles is a webcomic begun on November 8, 1999 by the webcomic author Eight and, after three separate runs spanning almost seven years, finally ended on May 17, 2006. It is known for being one of the first comics included in the now well-known webcomic collective Keenspot, joining the collective in early 2000. In mid-2008 the comics updating script written by Eight ceased to function, and as of late 2009 it was removed from the internet by the author until late 2009 when it was revamped and place back on the internet. RW1, as it has become known, was the strip's first incarnation, in both the literal and fictional senses. It details the adventures of Haley, a homicidal white girl, and Bruno, a former self-employed country store attendant/owner until Haley robbed and kidnapped him. The story continues with Haley and Bruno driving to Las Vegas picking up hitchhikers Merv, whom they let out at a pig farm so he can kill pigs instead of them, and Worm, whom Haley kills after Bruno remarks that the strip has become less spontaneous.
