High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Robert Edward Holmes (November 14, 1922 July 28, 2004) was an associate justice of the Ohio Supreme Court from 1978 until 1992. A conservative jurist, he had previously represented his native Franklin County in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1961 until 1968 and on Ohio's Tenth District Court of Appeals from 1968 until 1978 when he moved to the Supreme Court and was replaced on the Appeals Court bench by Thomas J. Moyer. He was a graduate of Ohio University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and the Ohio State University's Moritz College of Law. The Supreme Court of Ohio is the highest court in the U.S. state of Ohio, with final authority over interpretations of Ohio law and the Ohio Constitution. The court has seven members, a chief justice and six associate justices, each serving six-year terms. Since 2004, the court has met in the Ohio Judicial Center (formerly known as the Ohio Departments Building) on the east bank of the Scioto River in downtown Columbus. Prior to 2004, the court met in the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower and earlier in the Judiciary Annex (now the Senate Building) of the Ohio Statehouse.
