Roger Bellon ( 22 May 1953) is a composer and conductor who was "born and raised in Paris, France". He received his first piano lessons at the age of eight. He studied in Boston and Paris before he published symphonic works. Eventually he provided music scores for films and TV shows. His credits include the long-lasting (6 seasons) TV series Highlander to which he has also contributed the well-known ballad "Bonny Portmore". "Bonny Portmore" is an Irish traditional folk song which laments the demise of Ireland's old oak forests, specifically The Great Oak of Portmore, which fell in a windstorm in 1760 and was subsequently used for shipbuilding and other purposes.
