Role of Ideology in Terrorism: Study of TTP and LTTE

Terrorism has troubled the Pakistani society for almost three decades and there is no visible light at the end of the tunel. On the other hand Sri Lankans had to face the same menace for more than three decades. In both the cases the ideology adopted by the two organizations i.e. TTP and LTTE has played an important role in prolonging the movement. Ideology not only lured in the deprived people but also appealed to those living a life of luxury. The thesis also tries to explain what are the ideologies adopted by the aforementioned terrorist organizations. In order to understand the role of ideology in terrorism, this thesis has taken up real life stories of individuals and tries to explain that how a certain set of events pulled them towards picking up arms against the state. This thesis also attempts to give a way forward for the Pakistani government which is currently in a state of war against TTP.
