Role of IT professionals In Organizatios
Details
The availability of Information Technology professionals in Ethiopia has been increasing rapidly especially starting since 1993 E.C. The increasing need for IT personnel in organizations demonstrates the importance of IT professionals to make business processes more efficient. Hence, defining the specific role or duties and responsibilities of IT employees and deployment of IT staffs in accordance to their educational qualification and expertise knowledge level will help companies keep their competitiveness in the global market and insure proper utilization of IT professionals. In the absence a standard national skill or competency framework in the country, on which the roles of IT professionals could be defined, it is not practical to admit that IT professionals are capable of exploiting their full knowledge and are properly utilized. Consequently, this study examines the role of those Information Technology professionals who are currently working in 31 Federal Governmental and 17 ICT based organizations of Ethiopia. Skills Framework for Information Age (SFIA) is used as the basic research framework, which has incorporated various IT fields of works and associated skill levels.
