Backyard poultry farming is an integral part of sustainable livelihood generation of rural farm women in India. The study was carried out with an aim to find out the involvement status of women in rural poultry farming practices. The study explores that, backyard poultry farming depends on knowledge and attitude of the respective farming practices, future plan of the farming, decision making activities, work distribution and market pattern etc. The book based on dissertation work of author, which gives an overview of rural backyard poultry framing along with status, potentiality and prospects for effective empowerment of rural farm women considering present day needs and future development aspect.

Dr. Biswas is Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Sc.) in Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, WB, India since 2005. He is a veterinarian and did his M.V.Sc. from WBUAFSc & Ph.D. from University of Kalyani, India. He has written 04 books, 03 monographs, 04 Lab. Manual, 30 Research publications in various national & foreign journals.
