Role of strategic change on the performance of schools

This study sought to investigate the effect of strategic change on performance in public secondary schools within Nakuru Municipality.Results from data analysis support the following key findings: Strategic change has been achieved in public secondary schools within Nakuru Municipality to a varying extent, The overall organizational performance in terms of academics, enrollment, infrastructural development and co-curricular activities was generally low in majority of schools, The strategic change are positively correlated to and significantly influenced organizational performance, External factors such as the Board of governors and politics had some influence on organizational performance in majority of schools. This study recommends the need to strengthen particular aspect as well as other elements of strategic change in the public secondary schools; Effective application of strategic change in order to achieve measurable improvement in the organizational performance and address the negative influence of external factors such as the Board of governors and politics on performance in secondary schools.

Joseph Kimani Waiharo was born in 1970 in Baringo County, Kenya.He graduated with a Bed-Science degree from Egerton University in 1996.He obtained his MBA-Strategic Management degree from Egerton University in 2011.He is currently pursuing his PhD in Business Administration at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Agriculture.
