ROLE OF VITAMIN D AND ITS EFFECT ON ORAL CAVITY OF CHILDREN

Vitamin D belongs to a group of fat-soluble seco-steroids which take responsibility of many roles in the humans. Vitamin D3 and vitamin D2 are the most vital forms. The key role of it is to regulate the balance between calcium and phosphorus. It indeed encourage the growth of bone which is healthy and strong. In the existing literature, various facts have been established the function of vitamin D in aging process, the carbohydrate balance as well as the effects on the course of various infections. This book emphasizes on the basic functions of vitamin D in the human body as well as oral cavity with concentration on children. It is extremely crucial in children during the formation of bone and dental tissue. Thus, this review consists of summary of the latest literature on the impact of vitamin D on the oral cavity with a special emphasis on autoimmunologic diseases.
