ROLES AND PROBLEMS OF COOPERATIVES IN ETHIOPIA

This book has two dimensions of filling the conceptual gap and sharing the empirical experiences on persons with disabilities, cooperatives, and employment opportunities. It starts by assessing cooperatives and the conditions of persons with disabilities of different types; goes through the findings on the roles and problems of Yenegew Sew Sanitary Service Cooperative and concludes with the multifaceted benefits of the cooperative. (social, economic, psychological, political and environmental). The research also investigated the problems of the cooperative in detail. From the findings of this book it is possible to sum up that persons with disabilities are not only consumers but also contributors to the society. In this book lessons can be learnt from GIS application in presenting and analyzing data to vividly understand the spatial perspective of the income generating activities of the cooperative. Therefore, the book has valuable contributions for social researchers, planners, practitioners and those who are interested in the issues raised in here. Kedir Adem Bedasso has got his BA Degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from Dilla University (Ethiopia) in 2006, and MA Degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from Addis Ababa University in 2010. Currently, he is working as Head of Plan, Budget, Monitoring and Evaluation Department in Oromia Water, Mineral and Energy Bureau.
