The Romaka Siddhanta (literally "Doctrine of the Romans") is an Indian astronomical treatise, based on the astronomical learning of Byzantine Rome. "Siddhanta" literally means "Doctrine" or "Tradition". It follows the Yavanajataka ("Saying of the Greek") as an example of the transmission of Western astronomical knowledge (especially the Alexandrian school) to India during the first centuries of our era. The Romaka Siddhanta was particularly influential on the work of the Indian astronomer Varahamihira. It is the only one of all Indian astronomical works which is based on the tropical system. It was considered as one of "The Five Astronomical Canons" in Indian in the 5th century.
