Rooting for Green Homes

Green Home is described as a structure that ensures efficient use of materials, water, energy, and other resources without depleting nature and minimum generation of non-degradable waste. The term Green Home is often used in combination with 'high-performance building' 'sustainable design' and 'preservation of precious resources Kerala is the home to 2.76% of India's population, its land is three times as densely settled as the rest of India. Even though Kerala is a small state, its massive construction projects are creating a huge negative impact on the environment. This requires an urgent intervention to improve our environmental condition. This unprecedented rate of growth of population has also contributed to a large number of environmental problems such as deforestation, deterioration of water resources, pollution of water and air, ecological imbalances, etc. The obvious need of the hour is to develop projects and infrastructure which are eco-friendly and less carbon-intensive.
