It was produced by Thomas "Snuff" Garrett, a 19-year-old Texan, and co-written at the Brill Building in New York by Gene Pitney.The song was Vee''s second single release in the US where it made number 6 on the Billboard charts; and was a breakthrough hit for the artist in the UK, where it reached number 4 on the UK charts.The song was also released as a single by British singer Marty Wilde who also had a chart success when it went to number 9 in 1961.
