The settlement grows with increase of population. The word 'settlement' denotes a human habitat where a group of people have come to live and make their homes. So, understanding the pattern of settlement is very important for future planning. Moreover, the settlement expansion guidelines are necessary for optimum utilization of limited land resource. However, this book contained a empirical study findings, on a rural area of Bangladesh dominated by rural settlements and about 76.61% populations are living in rural area. The changing trend and responsible factors of settlement expansion had been identified here by analyzing local context. It is necessary to manage the expansion of rural settlements in a planned way. This document should be useful for the professionals, researchers or anyone else who may interested about rural development, human geography, human ecology, environment and other relevant field.
