The construction of the submarine was started in 1993 and as of 2009 it hasn't been activated. The submarine could be ready for missile test launching in mid-2010. The Russian navy plans to have two submarines in the Graney class in service by 2015. It is interesting to note that the torpedo-launching systems have been fitted behind the compartment of the central station. The international designation of Russian naval vessels is RFS "Russian Federation Ship".
