Started in 1996 by Maestro Uwe Lieflaender in Ontario, Canada, the Sacred Music Society has performed at several locations across Ontario, including Peterborough, Toronto, and Ottawa. The Sacred Music Society Choir of about 100 voices is the main wing of the Sacred Music Society. It performs at many events in the both Toronto and Ottawa. Performances have included the Vivaldi Gloria, the Mozart Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and the Lieflander St. Joseph Mass. The choir released its first CD recording in June 2000, featuring Palestrina's Missa L'Homme Armee (sung by the chamber choir) and the Schubert Mass in G (sung by the full choir).
