The Saffron United Pipe Band is a grade two pipe band from Babylon, New York. The band was founded in 1962, and currently fields competition bands in grades two, four, and five. In 2006, the band took second place overall in the grade two Eastern United States Pipe Band Association season. A pipe band is a musical ensemble consisting of pipers and drummers. The term used by military pipe bands, pipes and drums, is also common.Pipe bands are also a long-standing tradition in other areas with Celtic roots, such as the regions of Galicia and Asturies in Spain, as well as other regions with Celtic influence in other parts of Europe.
