Sago palm is believed to be the most important starch food in twenty first century. The sago palm trees originally derived from the area extending from Eastern Melanesia to South East Asia, primarily Indonesia. Nowadays Indonesia covers 63% of sago palm plantation in the world, most of them grow as wild stands. Unfortunately, the utilization of sago starch in this country is still as low as 2% of their potential yield. Sago starch has most broad range of applications. The sago palm is the most productive starch crops for human food security. The modified starch plays main role in applied industries.
