It is located between the Upper Chenab Canal and the Marala-Ravi Canal of the Marala Headworks project. It is a quiet town with people of different religions, sects, castes and political views. The most common caste is Cheema (Jutt), Mughal and Gujjar. Demographically, the town has a Union Council, which also covers some neighbouring villages. Many residents work on farms; others serve in industry and government. People of this area are noted for their hospitality. The Sialkot Tanneries Zone is nearby. Minhaj ul Quran Islamic Library is the public library, along Noor Mosque, which has the highest minaret in the district Sialkot.
