He is a Telugu, born and raised in Baagepalli Kshetra, near Chikkaballapura District, Karnataka, and currently living in Bangalore. He belongs to a middle class family and started his career at an early age of his life as a dubbing child artist. His father, P J Sharma is a leading dubbing artist. Sai Kumar followed in his father's footsteps, having dubbed for Suman and Dr. Rajasekhar for many of their films.His brother Ravi Shankar is also a dubbing artiste and villain in Tollywood.
