The Olympic monotype event was part of the sailing programme at the 1924 Summer Olympics. The competition, the debut of the event, was held from July 10, 1924 to July 13, 1924. The boats were single-person dinghies, French National Monotype 1924. 17 sailors, each from a different nation, competed. Two qualifying rounds were held. For each, the 17 competitors were divided into two races of 8 competitors each, plus an automatically qualifying competitor. That competitor and the top two finishers in each race qualified for the final round.
