Sales increase oppurtunities for Austrian Airlines in Russia

Cooperations are often necessary to remain
competitive, especially in the airline industry. In
Russia AUSTRIAN opted for cooperations with
Transport Clearing House (TCH), a clearing house
which guarantees the remittance of revenues created
by travel agencies, and the Russian distribution
system Sirena-Travel. The Austrian carrier thereby
enlarged its indirect distribution network by
6 500 agencies in Russia. Moreover, AUSTRIAN entered
into a strategic alliance with AiRUnion, an alliance
of five Russian carriers. In this thesis the risks
and opportunities for AUSTRIAN regarding the
cooperations mentioned above are analysed. For that
purpose information from different kind of sources
such as books, articles, internet, but also from
expert interviews is included.

Mario Grufeneder, born on 29 Oct 1980 in Linz (Austria), studied
from 2004 to 2008 at the University of Applied Sciences in Krems
(Austria) "Export Oriented Management. During an internship in
Moscow the author wrote his diploma thesis as work on demand for
Austrian Airlines. The author works in Krems as Sales Manager.
