An update of and answer to Industry, Policy and the Scottish Economy (published in 1984) this book critically examines the shape of the Scottish economy, and considers contemporary and future policy issues within the context of the global economy. Supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and Strathclyde International Business Unit, the book focuses on the future competitiveness of Scotland's economy, and it's industries and enterprises. The contributors are leading figures in business, the public sector and academia.

NEIL HOOD is Professor of Business Policy at the University of Strathclyde and advisor and non-executive Director in a range of Public and Private companies. He is also co-director, with Stephen Young, of the Strathclyde International Business Unit.
JEREMY PEAT is Chief economist at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
EWEN PETERS is Consultant and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde.
STEPHEN YOUNG is a Professor in the Department of Marketing at the University of Strathclyde. He is also co-director, with Neil Hood, of the Strathclyde International Business Unit.
