In order to improve early detection, it is imperious to increase the health-care providers' depth of knowledge about oral malignancy, their risk factors and the most common oral precancerous lesions. Oral malignancy is nowadays an increasing protracted catastrophe around the world. Early diagnosis of oral cancer and its pre-malignant lesions, and especially preclinical screening for high risk population may have a major impact on the survival and quality of life.There is an urgent need to devise critical diagnostic tools for the early detection of oral dysplasia and malignancy that are practical, noninvasive and can be easily performed in an outpatient set-up.
