Secrets in Orthodontic Practical Techniques

In order to have success in an orthodontic treatment, two factors must be combined: a good treatment plan and excellent bio-mechanics. If these two objectives are fulfilled, the orthodontist will have the foundations to perform a satisfactory and efficient treatment. A consideration of fixed appliance techniques available at the present time will reveal a small number of clearly defined systems, which require the application of particular diagnostic criteria and which define treatment objective. Some orthodontists are wholly committed to one or another of these techniques, and this polarization of opinion would suggest that no single technique is applicable to all cases. No doubt further refinement of mechanism will be developed, but they will arise out of experience gained by using existing methods. An understanding of the way in which simple fixed appliance systems work is therefore important.
