The Signaling System 7 (SS7) is the control networkused by public telephones all over the world. Havingbeen designed in an era in which few large telephonecompanies controlled the entire network, SS7 wasdesigned with no security in mind. However, due tothe telecommunications deregulation act,liberalization of economies, and the convergence oftelephone, IP, and wireless networks, the number ofinterfaces to SS7 has increased.
