The subprime mortgage crisis of 2007 and the global economic collapse of 2008, credit risk analysis became more important than ever. Financial institutions are required by Basel II, released by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, to assign internal ratings to their credit risk exposure. As a result of these initiatives, financial institutions have become better at analysing credit risk. Not only do financial institutions improve their credit scoring system in response to the law, but also because small improvements can have a big impact.
