The 1999 Sedgemoor Council election took place on 6 May 1999 to elect members of Sedgemoor district council in Somerset, England. The whole council was up for election with boundary changes since the last election in 1995 increasing the number of seats by 1. The election saw the Conservative party gain overall control of the council from no overall control. Sedgemoor is a low lying area of land in Somerset, England. It lies close to sea level south of the Polden Hills, historically largely marsh (or "moor" in its older sense). The eastern part is known as King's Sedgemoor, and the western part West Sedgemoor. Sedgemoor is part of the area now known as the Somerset Levels. Historically the area was known as the site of the Battle of Sedgemoor.
