Charlotte Bronte has been considered by critics as the foremost authors of the nineteenth century, important precursor to feminist novelists, and the creator of intelligent, independent heroines who asserted their rights as women long before those rights were recognized by society. Charlotte Bronte novels are of high significance due to her rebelliousness against conventions, her unwillingness to let her heroines bow down to conventions and for creating a social awareness and responsibility among women of that era by the power of her pen.
