In Self Esteem and Female Gender Roles in Daughters With Enmeshed Mothers, the author makes an attempt to give readers an insight into the traits and patterns that begin upon birth and become a deeply ingrained part of the daughter's lives. The areas condense into three basic groupings: having a great relationship with their mothers across an entire lifespan (smallest group 20%); beginning with a great relationship as a child and disintegrating as the teen rebellion years turn into independent adulthood (40%); finally, having a horrid relationship as a child, but making an improvement when independent adulthood arrives (40%). This book will give many women pause to think about what was really going on in their childhood with the women closest to them.

Il dottor Steve Hendrix si è laureato nel 2000 in psicologia presso la UNC-Wilmington. Nel 2004 si è laureato presso l'UNC-Pembroke MA in Counseling Program. Nel 2008 ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca in psicologia con specializzazione in medicina comportamentale. Attualmente dirige il programma di counseling dell'Università delle Isole Vergini e risiede a Christiansted, USVI.
