SELF HELP GROUPS AND EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN

The empowerment of women through self help groups (SHG)emphasizes the role of SHG's in the empowerment of women in Social, Economic, Political and Health aspects. Women empowerment through SHG provides benefit not only to individual woman but also for the family and community as a whole. The SHG play a major role in sensitizing more women to form SHG groups and in making them realize its importance in their empowerment. The present study was conducted on the Self help group woman to understand their Social, Economic, Health and Political empowerment. The major focus was laid in studying their socio-economic status ,their savings patterns, SHG formation, health conditions, decision making power and problems faces by them.
