SELF REPORTED HEALTH SYMPTOMS OF PRIMARY SCHOOLCHILDREN

Residents of landfill sites are exposed to different health problems and symptoms. In addition to residential arrangements, the environmental set up of schools may also facilitate the development of potential health effects on children through exposure to in- or outdoor air pollutants in areas where landfills are located. Abune Basilios primary school is within 300m of Repi landfill, while Ediget Behibret is about 10km away from Repi in Addis Ababa. We considered it important to study the prevalence of selected health symptoms in these primary schools in order to establish the health situation of children and to improve the teaching- learning environment.

Mistir Lingerew Mehari was born in 1976 at Laichabi Mariam, Gojjam, Ethiopia. He has earned his BSc and MPH in Environmental Health from Jimma and Addis Ababa Universities in 2005 and 2008 respectively. Currently he is working as lecturer in Wollo Uiversity, North Ethiopia.
