Semiperiphery States during the Post-cold War Era

The book provides an extensive coverage on the definition of tools to comprehend, understand, describe, analyze and assess semiperiphery states during the post-cold war era. Moreover, it discusses the 'concept of change', including balance and stability are analyzed and re-defined. Additionally, the book provides an extended analysis of the concept of security in semiperiphery states during the post-cold war era. The concepts of 'existential challenges' and 'securitization' are introduced to develop an adapted understanding of security. Finally, early warning, its options and its limitations are delineated and critically analyzed. The Author: Andrea K. Riemer is Associate Professor of International Relations and Academic Dean with The International University, Vienna. She received her doctorate in Business Administration from The Vienna Economic University and was Co-founder and Security Analyst from ARIS Research and Consultancy Office for Security Studies. She has published a considerable amount of literature and did a number of research and consulting projects in the areas of Early Warning, Greek-Turkish relations, the post-cold war era etc. Her current research focus is laid on theoretical questions in International Relations, on enhanced security, and on Europe and its semiperiphery. She has co-operated with various internationally renowned institutes for a number of years.
