The text provides an update on the treatment of patients with COVID-19, in severe and critical patients in Intensive Care Units. It gives points of view, suggestions and recommendations based on the best evidence available to date, on a subject as current and in contaste renovation as is the COVID-19.The book has been written in a pleasant way, without neglecting to go into the most important aspects in depth, and we also intend the text to be a support and guide for quick reference and at the same time current best practices suggested by different working groups. Patient evaluation issues are addressed such as: diagnostic criteria, laboratory evaluation with emphasis on alarm markers, imaging evaluation, ventilation criteria, criteria for the use of antiviral, monoclonal, steroid drugs, and anticoagulation.At the end of the text there are also a series of summary messages and suggestions that can be very useful as a consolidation of the topic.
