Sexual Practices of HIV Positive Adolescents in Uganda

HIV positive adolescents in Uganda are sexually active just like their uninfected peers and with the availability of Antiretrovirals, the surviving population of adolescents perinatally infected with HIV is increasing and they are becoming sexually active with most of them engaging in unprotected sex. This is one of the very few studies that have assessed the Sexual Practices of HIV positive adolescents in Uganda. It was a cross-sectional study with an analytical component which determined whether HIV positive adolescents disclose their HIV status to their sexual partners, identified factors associated with sexual activity among HIV positive adolescents, found out if these adolescents practice safe sex, determined age at first sex debut among these HIV positive adolescents and made recommendations regarding Sexual and Reproductive Health of HIV positive adolescents programs, policies and research. The book aims to guide HIV and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health policy makers, program managers and implementers, Health workers and social workers dealing with People Living with HIV&AIDS, researchers, epidemiologists, parents, politicians, adolescents and the general public.

Cephas Ntulume Kyesswa, Candidato a MPH (Universidade Cristã do Uganda). Tem também qualificações em Demografia e Saúde Reprodutiva (Universidade de Kyambogo) e Investigação em Saúde Sexual e Reprodutiva (Gfmer). Nos últimos 10 anos, tem trabalhado como clínico no tratamento, cuidados e apoio ao VIH, SSR e cuidados de saúde gerais no Sim's Medical Centre, em Kampala.
