Sexuality in women's prisons
Details
Prison is a highly questioned institution as it has proven unable to fulfill its objective of resocialization and in most cases is an evil in itself. The space occupied by women offenders is practically uncertain for society, which places them in a state of invisibility.Behind the walls, there are women who love, have desires, illusions and also suffer, suffer a lot.Sexual relations constitute an escape route for all people, regardless of their gender. The separation of the sexes leads to practices that, until now, were not taken into account, so that homosexuality loses its stigma inside the prison.Cases of homosexuality, without being an alteration of sexuality, should be considered an alteration of the sexual drive in its manifestation in the prison context, because it is not a freely chosen sexual option, but imposed by the reality of the inmate's life. Therefore, rather than homosexuality, it would be "alternative sexuality", and it does not necessarily consolidate later in the situation of freedom in most of the prisoners.
