SHIPPING QUALITY STANDARD ASSESSMENT

By the end of 2006, the company has noticed a consistent increase in warranty claims due to shipping products with missing items. With the spike in claims, the company has realized the need to address and resolve this issue. A team of Six Sigma practitioners and Quality Engineers was quickly assembled to investigate and address the problem and to determine the root cause. This book provides the reader with the successful Six Sigma roadmap (DMAIC Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) that was successfully developed and followed by the team. The book also includes the detailed analysis that lead to identifying the root causes and how they were corrected, controlled and verified. The analysis should help shed some light on the importance of Six Sigma and its tools. It also shows how these tools could be used to reduce and eliminate field problems. It should be especially useful to professionals in the Six Sigma or Quality Engineering fields, or anyone else who is interested in learning and utilizing Six Sigma tools.

Moataz Elheddeny is a Reliability Engineer at Trane. Prior to that, he was a Quality Systems Engineer, at a different company, where he has completed this Six Sigma project. Moataz is an ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer and Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He holds a B.Sc. in Production Engineering and MS in Industrial Engineering.
