Foluwashola "Shola" Ameobi (born 12 October 1981) is a footballer who plays for Newcastle United as a forward. Born in Nigeria, he played for England at under-21 level. He is the older brother of fellow footballer, Tomi and Sam, who plays for Newcastle Youth team. Born in Zaria, Nigeria, Ameobi moved to England when he was five. He was spotted playing by a Newcastle United scout at the age of 13. After initially struggling to come to terms with the standard, Ameobi started to excel and made rapid strides towards the first team.
