Total hip arthroplasty is one of the most frequent operations worldwide and is considered the most successful procedure, in restoring the quality of life. Over the last 15 years, two new components in THA emerged, addressing downsides of traditional implants and techniques. It became obvious that minimally-invasive approaches and short and rounded femoral implants in combination will be highly beneficial for us as orthopaedic surgeons but in particular for our patients. This book summarizes the philosophy, the development and presents the most interesting findings of short-stem THA.
