In recent decades truly revolutionary changes have taken place in the sphere of visual information transfer: the volume and the quality of transmitted data have been enormously increased; new types of visual information, as well as ways of its transmission, have been developed. Modern cities are signs and images-packed. Will people be able to resist the information onslaught? Will they have to use all the reserves of their memory and thinking, sorting out mountains of visual informational junk? Or the man of the future will develop the ability to ignore what he has seen and to drop it into "spam". This research gives a designer, a town planner, a developer the theoretical basis for successful activity to transform and harmonize the surrounding visual environment. The book will contribute to mastering scientific methods of urban environment spatio-figurative characteristics research and their use in academic career. The subject of research is on the interfaces between architecture, psychology, semiotics and design that will help professionals in the field of urban design to enrich their scientific scholarship and to approach complex issues fully, professionally, contemporarily.
