Silicon: A secret for cotton

Cotton is considered a crop of significant socioeconomic and environmental importance. Its chain is the second largest economic activity in the world and is considered a "triple" crop because it provides fiber, oil, and energy. The production chain of this oilseed still suffers from the lack of full use of appropriate technologies, which requires the development and application of such technologies. The use of silicon in agriculture has shown promise in optimizing the morphophysiological and biochemical aspects and yield of plants. Another effective practice is the use of cultivars that are eco-adapted to the soil and climate conditions of the cultivation ecosystems. Thus, it is necessary to develop research to evaluate the growth, physiology, and production of cotton cultivars under silicon application.
