Details

Computer based information systems have for several
decades been considered to have an enormous potential
to improve efficiency, reduce costs, make daily based
work task easier to carry out, as well as largely
improve accessibility to information. However, while
visions and expectation are high, many results are,
at least at present, not in proportion to these
expectations. It is still common to face many equal
problems that were relevant decades ago. The health
care work is still heavily paper based, while the
technology has gained rapidly within the last
decades. Thus, how can the health care system be so
manual while the conditions of the technology are so
good? In this book, I will try to figure out some
directions towards the cause. The main idea is to
advise hospitals and vendors to put larger attention
towards mapping existing work practices and social
contexts before new technological solutions are
designed. I hope you will find the book interesting.
