Simulation-Based Training in Nigeria. A need to improve Women's health

Postpartum hemorrhage continues to be a challenge and a leading cause of maternal mortality, especially in underdeveloped countries. This work reveals some of the challenges in a rural academic and healthcare setting in Nigeria which impacts the outcome of care. There was a significant increase in the knowledge of the participants following the implementation of this one-day simulation-based training. The author concluded that maternal mortality can be eliminated by enhancing the knowledge and skills of healthcare Providers through simulation-based training. There is an ethical need for organizations in privileged areas to partner with institutions like this to enhance the skills of healthcare providers in order to achieve MDG-5.
