SME financing in Morocco
Details
Morocco is currently undergoing major economic, social and technological changes that are challenging the traditional model of an economy supported by an entrepreneurial state. In the context of liberalization and globalization reforms, the Moroccan government now plays the role of incentive and facilitator, creating a favorable environment for private sector development, in particular by modernizing the financial sector and supporting SMEs.SMEs represent a major part of the Moroccan economic fabric (more than 95% of companies) and make a significant contribution to employment and investment. However, their contribution to GDP remains low, mainly due to administrative constraints and difficulties in accessing financing.Faced with these challenges, SMEs need to enhance their transparency, creativity and capacity for innovation in order to build solid relationships with their partners. The study will be structured into three chapters: a general presentation of SMEs, an analysis of their financing in Morocco, followed by an empirical study.
