Smile plays a major role in how you perceive yourself, as well as in the impression you make on the people around you. From patient's perspective, beauty measures that individual's perception of beauty as noted in the saying- "beauty lies in the eyes of beholder''. Esthetic dentistry demands attention to patient desire and treatment of patient individual problems. Various treatment plans include - cosmetic, contouring, bleaching, restorative changes, prosthetic planning, periodontal esthetics, orthodontics and surgical management. The purpose is not to sacrifice function but to use it as the foundation of esthetics. In modern practice of dentistry, more patients are demanding highly esthetic treatment outcome. In order to improve smile attractiveness, clinicians needed to carry out a comprehensive facial and dental assessment that will analyze the smile and the face in an objective and standardize manner that will address the patient factors of dissatisfaction and concern. The diagnostic data must guide the subsequent treatment phases, integrating all of the patient's needs, desire and functional and biological issues into an esthetic treatment.
